WELCOME TO GTGROUP

In 1990, the late Mike Ferguson bought what was then a run-down petrol station in Gormanston, Co Meath. Mike was always keen to give the personal touch and over the following fifteen years, he and his family built up a large customer base, many of whom offered repeat business, and the automotive service centre as it is today.

At the time, Mike and his crew also carried out puncture repairs and sold tyres on a small scale. Mike’s youngest son Darren took a keen interest in the business and in 2005, the family sold the petrol station.

Immediately following the sale, Darren set up a tyre repair and sales centre in Julianstown. The business leveraged off the existing clientele and soon built up a reputation for friendly service, value for money and efficiency. They sourced a good network of suppliers and are renowned stockists of a wide range of the leading tyre brands and sizes, all of which are competitively priced. This means that on the spot they can cater for any customer whether it be for a car, motorcycle, tractor or heavy goods vehicle.

The business expanded into a complete automotive service centre and increased its product range to include a wide selection of alloys, brakes and exhausts in stock. In addition, they increased their services to include valeting, auto-electrical work and all major servicing. This includes clutches, timing belts, engine rebuilds pre-NCTs and pre-DOEs. However, Darren is keen to stress that regardless if a customer has 100 trucks or just wants one tyre on a car, everyone is treated the same when they bring their custom to the GT Group.

As well as catering for customers at the site, Darren invested in extensively kitted-out mobile tyre units which offered a 24 hour call-out service. This enabled them to carry out mobile tyre fitting and balancing as well as roadside assistance.

The mobile tyre units were sufficient for minor breakdowns but it soon became apparent that investment was required to cater for more major mechanical faults or accidents. Accordingly a new business venture ‘GT recovery’ was established. That business purchased its first recovery vehicle in 2008.They now own a diverse fleet of recovery vehicles, ranging in size from a motor bike recovery unit to those capable of rescuing a HGV.

Crash repairs was a natural progression from this. Instead of towing the vehicles back to the storage compound and then allowing another business to repair them, it was considered beneficial to provide a one-stop shop”. Accordingly, in May 2009, GT Crash Repair Centre was established. At Keenogue Business Park, Julianstown, a state-of-the art facility complete with a low-bake oven, computerised colour matching/paint mixing system and chassis alignment was set up. All of these provide faster more efficient repair times as well as a top quality finish. In addition to the complete automotive service centre, there is a modern shop which sells parts and accessories such as lubricants, car stereo systems, xenon headlight conversions, alarms, parking sensors and batteries. The shop also includes a sit-down waiting area and coffee/tea making facilities.
